Today’s DI presses set the standard for digital offset printing. These Presstek-enabled presses combine the high quality of offset with the automation and speed of digital printing. Presstek’s Digital Media is a key component of this superior performance and productivity. The combination of Presstek’s Digital Media and laser imaging technology provides an optimized plate/laser system that yields the highest quality offset printing.

Profire Digital Media

ProFire Digital Media, the new generation of digital media for DI® printing applications, is optimized for DI presses enabled by Presstek ProFire Excel or ProFire imaging including DI presses branded by Presstek, Ryobi, Kodak, and KBA.

ProFire Digital Media is an environmentally friendly chemistry-free printing plate. The thermal laser imaging process eliminates hazardous waste associated with conventional lithographic plate production. The non-photographic plates eliminate the disposal problems and costs associated with processing chemistry.

Since it is a waterless plate system, fountain and alcohol substitutes are eliminated. And by imaging the plates in register on press utilizing the automatic ink-profiling system on newer DI presses, makeready times are significantly reduced, resulting in significantly less paper and ink waste.

On new Presstek DI digital offset presses ProFire Digital Media works in conjunction with Presstek's laser imaging technology, allowing for a 16-micron imaging spot and supports a 300-line screen as well as stochastic (FM) screening. This significantly broadens the range of high-resolution print applications that can be produced by a DI.

ProFire Digital Media supports a wide variety of waterless inks. Higher surface area ensures uniformed ink lay-down with faster rise to ink density. ProFire Digital Media reduces paper waste, saves ink, and offers run lengths as high as 20,000.

PearlDry Plus

PearlDry was first implemented on the Heidelberg Quickmaster DI® in 1995, and Presstek continues to make improvements in plate design and manufacturing processes. PearlDry plate material is supplied in polyester-backed spools that contain 28 or 36 plates. This innovative plate design-working in conjunction with Presstek's laser imaging system-results in an optimized DI press that delivers high-quality output and a high degree of consistency and durability.

PearlDry plates are also environmentally friendly. The thermal laser imaging process eliminates hazardous waste associated with conventional lithographic plate production. The non-photographic plates eliminate the disposal problems and costs associated with processing chemistry. Since it is a waterless plate system, fountain and alcohol substitutes are also eliminated.
